Happy Halloween!

Okay, don't shoot me but I am getting so sick of Halloween. I have been over it for about 2 weeks. And yet...here I go posting another Halloween related post. I had to make a sweet treat for my son's kindergarton Halloween party and so I decided to make cookies. Mummy cookies. I usually do these with candy melts and oreos...but to be honest no one really likes the taste of the candy melts! Most just take a bite...say they are cute and then are done and they waste. So I decided to make sugar cookies instead. I also took the easy route out by using a cookie dropper instead of rolling them out. I am cheater I know. :) They came out like this.

I used my spatula and just pressed them down flat. Super easy round delicious sugar cookie.

I then whipped up some buttercream frosting and started decorating. I used a little frosting to hold down the eyes. (I found these candy eyes at Hobby Lobby in Halloween section).

Then used the flat side of my basket weave tip to make the bandage lines with the frosting. I just whipped it across until I liked the look.

Super easy, super yummy, and super cute.

P.S. I will share my sugar cookie and frosting recipe this week. I have tried so many different sugar cookie recipes and this one is NEVER FAIL! It is the best I have ever found.

Halloween'y Bracelet

A few weeks ago I guest posted on Blissful & Domestic. It was my first guest post ever...thanks Danielle! Anyways, I made a festive bracelet and in case you missed it I'll show you how.

I started with a wood bead necklace I found at the thrift store for less than a dollar.

I cut the elastic cording to release the beads. I loved how there were many sizes to choose from!

I spray painted some of them black. My son thought they were olives...:)

I took some white paint and a little brush and just did dabbed little bits of paint to make polka dots. I let it dry and then sprayed it with poly.

After the painted wood beads were dry, I went to my ribbon stash and picked a nice black grosgrain ribbon. I threaded the beads on alternating different kinds. Some plain, some painted.

After I got it to my desired length leaving enough tie it off, I cut the ribbon and added some fray check. I also gathered up some accent colors to tie onto the bracelet to make it "halloweeny".

Here is my finished product. I think it turned out so cute, festive yet not overboard! The best thing is that you can switch out the accent ribbons (see sample pic below) and make it more versatile for year round accessorizing.

Just wanted to let you all know that the November calendar will be coming soon next week! I am going to be helping my sister move for the next week so I won't be available so if ya email me...just know I will respond I just might be extra late.  I have some fun printables and projects to share. Things have just gotten crazy but I will share soon. Also...what do you think of this piece?

It is solid and intricately hand painted...what would you do with it? I does not match anything in my house at all style wise, but I think that painting over it would be so sad. What would you do? I got it for free from my MIL and it is a very nice piece with deep drawers that would be so handy. I would love to hear your thoughts, everyone who has seen it so far has said DON'T TOUCH IT!!

Master Bedroom {Quilt in Progress}

So I have finally decided that I want to do my master bedroom in butter yellow, light various shades of blue, and a rich apple red. I am not sure why, but I think they will make a beautiful color combo for accents throughout my bedroom.  Here is my bed 'before' pic so you can see the boring-ness I am working with. I plan to keep the whites and the blue polka sheets but will add a quilt throw folded across and a few colorful accent pillows behind the white ruffle pillows.

I wanted to do something vintage looking and I have searched for the past year and haven't had luck finding the look I want with the right coloring. So I decided to take on the quilt making project myself. Yep, its going to take me a year I bet. Yes, I am crazy. I am doing it entirely by hand. I found some beautiful fabrics that I love! I am doing a hexagon quilt using English paper piecing. So if you've wondered what I have been working on...its basically been this. Hours and hours of work!

 

 The crazy stitches you see will be taken out. They are just to hold in the paper.

 

 

 

 

 I have 10 of these hex's made so far.

I have never done anything quite like this...so I don't really have a clue how to "do" it, but I am still pretty excited with the progress I've made. I only have 3 full hex's done. Only like 50 more to go! I'll keep you updated as this project continues!

Halloween Bag Toppers {Free Printable}

I decided to make some treat bag toppers because with how my life has been lately, I know I am not going to be making many fun and cute (time-consuming) treats this year. Hence the reason for my easy candy bag topper. I thought I would share in case you want an easy out like me!  I also made a few a couple new cupcake toppers that I will upload soon. Here are some tips to give you the best results:
