Halloween Wreath

in DIY/Crafts, Halloween, Tutorial on 22/09/14

Anyone else decorating for Halloween already? I couldn’t resist making a fun new Halloween wreath for my decor this year. In our home, we like to decorate for Halloween by keeping it pretty elegant. We are loving our mostly black and white color scheme and this wreath fits in perfectly. I hope you enjoy, and I even made a video tutorial! πŸ™‚

Supplies:

  • wreath form
  • fabric
  • feather
  • black flower
  • embellishments
  • white sprigs
  • scissors
  • glue gun

Start off by cutting your fabric into strips about 2″ wide. Take those strips and start wrapping around the wreath and securing with hot glue before starting another strip. I trimmed my strips so that they would start and stop on the backside to keep my wreath looking nice and clean.

When you are wrapping it, try and match up the pattern as you go around to create a more seamless look.

After you have your wreath form all wrapped you can start embellishing. I recommend laying out your embellishments and “trying them on” your wreath so you can gauge what kind of look you are going for. I started with some lovely white sprigs to add a touch of whimsy.

Next up was a strip of lace I glued into a round floral shape.

I then added on this lovely fun feather and finished it with a little bead ribbon and a black flower.

I trimmed a piece of the bead ribbon to use as a center for the flower to add a little glam.

Marie, this is beautiful and yet also fun. I love black and white together. This year we have a bunch of “scary” decorations out (which my husband chose) except for my wreath. I’ll have to keep this in mind for the future, too.
I also wanted to invite you to a Retro Re-pin party starting Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET. Here we share our older posts, in pin form. It’s a lot of fun πŸ™‚

Oh my. I have been eyeing my neighbor’s Halloween wreaths, thinking that I need to make one, but feeling overwhelmed at some of the complexity of other wreath’s. Your Halloween Wreath is perfect for this fall. Thank you for the inspiration.
