Coconut Rice Krispie Treats

in Desserts, Recipes on 17/02/15

We love rice krispie treats around our house, usually when we make them we have to double the batch. Not only are they delicious, but they are quick and easy to whip up which is a plus in my book!  Today we are going to take it up a notch with these Coconut Rice Krispie Treats. These may or may not have side-tracked my diet…
Delicious and easy coconut rice krispie treat recipe. So yummy!

Coconut Rice Krispie Treats

  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 2 packages Toasted Coconut Marshmallows
  • 7 cups Rice Krispies cereal

DIRECTIONS

In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat. Add rice krispies cereal and stir until coated entirely. Spread out on 9x13x2″ greased baking sheet. Cut into squares, serve and enjoy!

*Microwave- Microwave butter and marshmallows for 1 minute. Stir. Cook for 30 second intervals stirring in between to melt marshmallows. Do not overcook. Add rice krispies cereal and stir until coated entirely. Spread out on 9x13x2″ greased baking sheet. Cut into squares.

A FEW TIPS:
You can use your own rice krispie recipe if you want substituting toasted coconut marshmallows for  regular, but I have found that they don’t puff up as much so you’ll want to double or add extra marshamallows.
-You can reduce the butter but we like these gooey and buttery, otherwise they come out a bit dry.
– Also, these marshmallows are usually found next to the other marshmallows. I find mine at walmart, however a few of my sisters in different states say they haven’t been able to find them or they come and go at their stores. If you really want them you may want to request them through your grocery store. Trust me they are worth it!
